Apple Maps Ads Bans Home Service Businesses

Apple updated its Apple Maps Ads policies and now bans ads for home services. Per Search Engine Roundtable, the ban covers plumbing, electrical, locksmiths, HVAC, pest control, roofing and general contracting.

Also banned:

• bail bonds;
• cryptocurrency ATMs;
• some medical services.

For local service businesses this noticeably narrows an ad channel: these niches can no longer be promoted on Apple Maps. Google Local Services Ads and Google Maps remain the main channels for them.

What it means for business. If you're in home services and used Apple Maps Ads, review your campaigns and reallocate budget to Google and other channels in advance so you don't lose your lead flow.
