Bing Tests a Black Magnifying Glass Icon in Search

Publication date: 17.07.2026

Microsoft is testing a new search icon in Bing — a solid black magnifying glass instead of the gray or outlined one. This comes from Search Engine Roundtable.

The change is purely visual:

  • old icon — gray or thin-outlined;
  • new — fully filled black;
  • not all users see the test (gradual rollout).

The icon itself changes nothing for SEO. But it's a reminder: Bing keeps actively refining its search interface — and its share is no longer tiny, especially with Copilot integration and the rise of Google alternatives.

What it means. Bing's small UI experiments are worth watching: bigger SERP changes often follow. If you optimize for Google only, it's a good time to check how your site looks in Bing.
