Google's «Past Hour» Filter Isn't Working

If you filter Google results by recency, don't be surprised when nothing changes. The «Recent» tool in Google Search and the Google News tab simply isn't working right now.

The glitch looks like this: you open «Tools», pick a time filter — «Past hour», «Past 24 hours» and so on — and the results ignore your choice, showing the same listing as with no filter at all. Search Engine Roundtable reports that the problem hits time-based sorting specifically, while the rest of the search tools behave normally. There's no official word from Google yet, so it's unclear whether this is a temporary bug or a side effect of a broader results-page rebuild.

What's actually broken:

• the «Recent» / «Past hour» filter in Google Search doesn't narrow results;
• the same behaviour shows up in the Google News tab;
• other search tools (language, exact phrase) work as usual.

For a regular user it's a minor annoyance, but for SEO and PR specialists who check fresh results daily and track mentions from the last hour, a familiar monitoring shortcut is temporarily gone — and those same checks underpin how you watch new pages get indexed and how you react to breaking topics.

Until it's fixed, verify recency with the before: and after: operators or third-party monitoring tools — that's the quickest workaround.
