Three travel features in AI Mode: prices, miles and booking

The businesses that will feel this first are the ones that make money on comparison: aggregators, metasearch, points-and-miles sites. Google is rolling three travel features into AI Mode at once — flight price tracking, prices shown in points and miles, and hotel booking right inside conversational search. A traveller describes the trip in plain words and gets a shortlist with prices, reviews and an action button, without opening a single tab.
The rollout is uneven: hotel booking starts in the US in English, flight price tracking is announced for more than 180 countries excluding the EEA, and points and miles rates depend on the market and the partner. Search Engine Roundtable reports the details — and this is no longer a lab experiment but a feature in the main interface.
Who it touches, and how:
- Hotels and chains — part of the bookings move into Google's own interface; direct sales now have to win on price and terms, not position;
- OTAs and metasearch — their core value, comparing options, is now built into search for free;
- Airlines and loyalty programmes — award rates become public and comparable in a single query;
- Travel content sites — «where is it cheaper» round-ups lose their point when the answer is already assembled in chat;
- Every other vertical — this is the template: comparison first, then the transaction inside Google.
Travel is simply going first, because the inventory and the price are unambiguous there. Insurance, car rental and event tickets will follow the same path. The practical takeaway for Ukrainian businesses: stop treating traffic as the only visibility metric and start checking whether your inventory, your price and your terms make it into the data Google builds its answer from. If you are not in there, you will not be in the transaction either.
